FERC Extends COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency Waivers

On August 20th, FERC extended two pandemic emergency-related waivers pursuant to section 206 of the Federal Power Act that were set to expire on September 1st. These waivers have been extended through January 29, 2021. This extension was made in an effort to provide continued safety and flexibility for the public and the companies FERC regulates.

FERC Finalizes XBRL Reporting Taxonomy

On July 17th, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) finalized its proposed XBRL reporting taxonomy. FERC announced it would adopt a structured data approach to its regulatory reporting system on June 20, 2019. In addition to the taxonomy, the agency has adopted protocols, an implementation guide, and other supporting documents, all of which are available on FERC’s eCollection website.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Adopts XBRL

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is revising its electronic filing format for particular data collections to make it easier for filers to submit information and for data analyzers to use that information. This new rule, which was passed June 20, 2019, will modernize FERC’s data collection, which will in turn increase efficiency in regulatory filings and business information processing while furthering transparency and over time decreasing costs in preparing the data for submission.
