SEC Issues EDGAR 25.2 Release XBRL Taxonomies Update

On June 16th, the EDGAR system was upgraded to Release 25.2, which now supports the 2025 version of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) taxonomy. The 2025 version of the IFRS taxonomy is the same taxonomy version that the International Accounting Standards Board made available on March 27, 2025.

As part of the upgrade to Release 25.2, the 2023 versions (including quarterly releases) of the following taxonomies will no longer be accepted in the EDGAR system:

  • US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Currencies (CURRENCY)
  • Document and Entity Information (DEI)
  • Executive Compensation Disclosure (ECD)
  • Exchange (EXCH)
  • Fund (FND)
  • Open-End Fund (OEF)
  • Countries (COUNTRY)
  • Resource Extraction Payments (RXP)
  • Risk/Return Summary (RR)
  • North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)
  • SEC Reporting Taxonomy (SRT)
  • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
  • Sub-National Jurisdiction (SNJ)
  • State and Province (STPR)
  • Closed-End Fund (CEF)
  • Variable Insurance Product (VIP)

For more information, visit the Standard Taxonomies webpage on sec.gov for a complete listing of supported standard taxonomies. The staff strongly advises companies to use the latest version of taxonomy releases for their XBRL filings to benefit from the most current tags related to new accounting standards and other improvements.

The latest version of the GoFiler family of products (6.1a) supports required taxonomy changes. We recommend you keep your software up to date to receive the latest changes from the SEC.
