Course Description

This three-day Mac OS X Server Command Line Install and Configuration course provides system administrators and IT professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to configure, install and administer Mac OS X Server using command line tools. Students will also gain experience troubleshooting configuration issues with Mac OS X Server. The course is taught through a combination of lecture and hands-on case study exercises, providing students with valuable and practical real-world experience.

Who Should Attend:
This class is for system administrators, IT professionals, or anyone responsible for maintaining Mac OS X Server in a heterogeneous environment, particularly for headless servers.

Prerequisites Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending this course:
- Completion of MacOS 101 Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.4 and MacOS 200 Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.4 courses, or equivalent knowledge
- Understanding of Basic IP networking including IP address, subnet masks, ports, and protocols
- Strong familiarity with the command line interface

Course Outline
Topic Description
Chapter 1: Install Preparation and Disk Management Plan and partition disks based on storage and service evaluation.
Chapter 2: Installation Install Max OS S Server remotely using CLI tools. Decide when to install a server and when to image a server.
Chapter 3: Configuration Configure Mac OS X Server using serversetup, networksetup, and systemsetup.
Chapter 4: Admin Tools Use CLI tools to configure users, groups, and services.
Chapter 5: Troubleshooting Exercises using command line and GUI tools to find configuration problems in Mac OS X Server.
