Chapter Eleven — SGML Functions (continued)
Overview
The XBRLGetConceptByHREF function returns a concept by URI specified as an HREF.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
string[] = XBRLGetConceptByHREF ( handle hXM, string href );
Parameters
hXM
A handle to an XBRL Object containing taxonomy data..
href
A string containing a uri for a concept. The value cn be a fully qualified URL or a partial address but it must have a name portion specifying the ID. The value is case-sensitive.
Return Value
Returns a string list of concept properties or an empty array on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve a formatted error code.
On success, the last error will context the position of the concept in the concept table.
Remarks
Concepts can be accessed via an URI or a complete URL. Concepts must be defined with IDs to use this feature. Each entry in the concept table has the source location (not the namespace) of the entry which, when combined with a ID forms a unique value.
The XBRLGetConceptByID can also be used, but it relies on the loaded taxonomy to have a unique ID for each concept. Within a specified file, all IDs must be unique (even for non-concept information). However, while poor practice, there is not a prohibition from using the same ID string in two different files — the URL portion will make the item unique.
The list employs the key names specified at Section 11.20.14 Taxonomy — Concepts.
